About Our Budget and Funding

St. Luke’s School is a private, non-profit organization, as such we rely heavily on donations and fundraisers to support our budget. Below is a brief outline of how some of our expenses are covered.

Golf Outing-Originally the golf outing proceeds went to the Endowment Fund, however in recent years all proceeds go to a special fund called the “School Grant Fund” that also receives regular donations from individuals.  This fund is judiciously used to help us meet our budget.  In recent years we have been using approximately $30 to $35 thousand per year from this fund.

Endowment Fund-The Endowment Fund was set up to ensure future funding for the school by only allowing the interest from the fund to be used.  As interest rates went down the amount money that we receive in interest and are able to use has also dropped.  This year we will be able to use about $36,374.

Tuition and some other fundraisers such as the school fish fry, the Lucky Luke Calendar Raffle and bulletin advertising also go toward helping us meet our budget. However, the parish still provides funding for 52% of our budget.

In addition to the above support from our parish and special funds, our music and Spanish teachers, and part of the kindergarten aide, are paid for by the Home & School Association.  Their funds come from things such as the Concession Stand at the ballpark, the Parish Festival, the Spaghetti Supper, the 50/50 and Christmas Raffles, and Bake Sales.

The Home & School has also provided teachers with “Wish List” money from the Christmas Raffle, have purchased new playground equipment, new desks and chairs, funded Opera for the Young and other programs and speakers, and provides miscellaneous help when and where it’s needed.

The Activity Fund supports things such as sports, field trips, special programs, Grandparent’s Day, and other miscellaneous extra-curricular expenses outside of the regular budget.  This fund receives a large field trip donation from Kraemer Brothers.  The rest of the funding comes from the pizza and frozen food sales we hold in the spring and fall, and our magazine sale.

General unspecified donations from parents, parish members, alumni or friends of St. Luke’s are also received and put to good use.

We are extremely fortunate to receive the support that all of the above provide.

Don’t worry about anything,
but in all your prayers ask God for what you need,
always asking him with a thankful heart.
